We collect only what we need to operate your membership and the services you use. That falls into five categories.
Account information. When you register as a business or community member, we collect your name, email address, password (stored only as an encrypted hash), and the home chamber you select.
Business listing information. Business members provide details for the public directory, such as business name, description, categories, address or service area, phone number, website, hours, and logo or images.
Payment information. Membership payments are processed by our third-party payment processor. We receive confirmation of payment and a customer reference, but we never see or store your full card number.
Content you post. Anything you submit to our community services or business promotions, including events, listings, quotes, job posts, replies, and messages sent through your private inbox.
Technical information. Standard server and device data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring page, collected automatically when you use the site.
We use a small number of cookies, and we keep them purposeful. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles about you.
You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, parts of the site — including sign-in and your home chamber — may not work correctly.
We use the information described above to:
We do not sell your personal information.
Some of what you provide is intended to be seen by others — that is the point of a chamber of commerce.
Your business directory listing is public. Community posts are visible according to the reach you choose when you publish: your city only, your whole state, or every community in the C2OC network. Please choose that setting deliberately, and never include information in a public post that you would not want widely seen.
Replies to your posts are delivered privately to your inbox rather than displayed publicly. If a visitor without an account replies to you, they must supply an email address so that you can respond to them.
We share personal information only in the limited circumstances set out below.
Membership fees are collected by a third-party payment processor that is responsible for handling your card details securely and in line with industry standards.
We store only the references we need to manage your subscription — such as your customer and subscription identifiers, your membership status, and your renewal date. Full card numbers never reach our systems.
Business membership includes AI-powered marketing. To deliver it, we process the business information you supply — such as your products, services, promotions, target customers and marketing goals — to generate and distribute marketing material on your behalf.
This processing is carried out to fulfil the service you have asked us to provide. You remain responsible for the accuracy of the business information you give us and for ensuring you have the right to use any images, trademarks or copy you upload.
We take reasonable and appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect member information. Passwords are stored using strong one-way encryption, access to member data is restricted to those who need it, and our systems are monitored for unusual activity.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please choose a strong, unique password and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
We keep your account information for as long as your membership is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards so that we can meet legal, tax, accounting and dispute-resolution obligations.
Content you have posted publicly may remain visible until you remove it or ask us to remove it. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or render it anonymous.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
Residents of California and certain other states have additional rights, including the right to know what personal information is collected and to request its deletion, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. As stated above, we do not sell personal information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us through our contact page. We may need to verify your identity before we act on your request.
Our services are intended for adults. Membership is not available to anyone under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Our directory, community posts and marketing materials may link to websites we do not control. This policy does not apply to those sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any website you visit from ours.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top of this page, and where the changes are significant we will take reasonable steps to notify members directly.
Your continued use of the services after an update takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your information, please reach us through our contact page.
